1. What is the name, class and level of your main character on Pyrewood Village, the one with which you wish to join Nighthaven? (This info is needed so we can process your application - and to know what we can call you . )
Theobrin, Dwarven Paladin Lvl 70 (Protection).
I have played mostly as protection since level 10. Even while levelling. Yes, I know… I am _patient_
2. What hours do you typically play? (Please include time zone as well)
Normally around 19:00 to 21:00 server time. Not every day, though, some days there is simply too much happening IRL.
3. What is your experience with World of Warcraft? (How long have you played, were you a raider, role-player, etc.)
I first started playing in 2006, during the original WoW times. I was playing together with my then girlfriend, now wife, and we enjoyed entering the dungeons just the two of us (rogue, priest) and see how far we could get (spoilers: not that far). Eventually I joined a casual raiding group. My wife never got into raiding, though. Also, life got a whole more complicated when we created two new lvl 1 IRL toons (read: kids), so eventually we quit altogether around 2011.
<Ten years later>
Kids have grown to become teenagers and pre-teenagers. They basically desire to spend all their waking hours in front of screens and we fail to put an end to it (*read with Saruman’s voice* “Against the power of Mordor the screen there can be no victory”), so we decided that we could do something together in the virtual world instead, as a family. Since WoW classic had launched, we joined the four of us and it has been a nice experience since then (but now I pay for 4 subscriptions a month!!).
My wife decided again that she prefers Elwynn Forest to Hellfire Peninsula, so she is stuck at 60, but both kids and myself have now characters at 70.
4. What is your favorite thing about World of Warcraft Classic TBC? (The community? The Immersion? The progression? Are you a fast leveller or do you like taking your time? Do you like doing dungeons and raids? Chatting with others? Or are you more the solo and quiet type? Tell us a bit about yourself )
We enjoy levelling and dungeons, but nothing too serious. The teenager is curious about raiding, though, since he has heard me tell the stories of the epic battles in Blackwing Lair and Icecrown Citadel (which were my favourites raids in the past).
That said, what eventually remains after the hours in front of the computer are just memories. Some of them good, some others not so. Luckily the brain wipes the lousy memories in other to maintain our collective sanity. The very best memory I ever have from this game was when we finally defeated Arthas towards the end of Wrath, while playing casually, even if half the server had him on regular farm by then. I think it was during the autumn/winter of 2010. The feeling of having worked together as a team and finally getting to Arthas was incredible. In a way, this application of mine is part of a long term plan to prepare to a repetition of that moment (I told you I was patient!).
5. What are your goals in Classic TBC, and what do you look forward to the most?
For the most of it, we just play together, do some quests, join some dungeons.
We are limited to dungeon PUGs, which is OK, but I do somehow miss the bigger immersion that a guild provides. More specifically the feeling of working together towards a common goal, even if that goal takes weeks to reach. Also, I miss the feeling of joining dungeons or raids with a community of people. I do remember (with dread) the days of LFR in Cataclysm and how empty it really felt (which was one of the reasons we eventually quit). Felt like fast food.
6. Why would you want to join Nighthaven? (Please note we ask for your reasons for wanting to join -this- guild, not just any guild)
Having been part of a raiding guild in the past (albeit a very causal one) I know that any kind of raiding might become a 2nd job after a while. So Nighthaven sounds (at least on your marketing material) something casual enough to keep the balance towards the “fun” part of the slider, rather than on the “2nd job” one.
That said, you do mention as well that you take strides into KZ, so you do seem to hit the perfect balance that I/we could be looking for.
7. What qualities do you have to offer, and what do you expect of your guild?
Dependable, mature (well, we have teenager kids, so that is on the job description) and willing to help others to achieve their game goals.
8. Where did you hear of us?
Forums
9. Do you know any current or former member of Nighthaven? (If so please include the name of the person)
Unfortunately, no
10. Is there anything else you would like to add to help us know if we´d be a good match for each other?
Yes. As I wrote above, this is the application for Theobrin the Hairy Dwarven Paladin. However, the teenager boy is intrigued by raiding but he is not comfortable writing an application here or typing in-game since he suffers from dyslexia and extended teenager awkwardness. My plan in joining your guild would be to show him that it is safe to join a bunch of new people. Eventually, if the match materialises, I hope that you would accept him as well (level 70 elemental shaman).
Well met!
